As we all know, blood pressure monitors are indispensable devices in hospitals, clinics, and even private homes, since monitoring and controlling blood pressure is now essential — a large proportion of adults in Spain suffer from arterial hypertension (AHT).
Types of blood pressure monitors
Before explaining which blood pressure monitors are the most reliable on the market, let us look at the different types available. At Salvador Navarro we work with three types:
Mercury sphygmomanometer
These consist of a mercury column, and measurements are expressed in millimetres of mercury. Mercury sphygmomanometers were the first to reach the market — they are the oldest type — and although they have largely fallen out of use, they remain the most precise instruments available.
Aneroid blood pressure monitors
These use a needle driven by internal springs rather than a mercury column. The precision of dial-gauge aneroid monitors depends on their dial radius, but they are generally very accurate.
Digital blood pressure monitors
These devices are the most widely used today. They are very convenient and easy to operate: the user simply applies the cuff and presses a button that activates the measurement process for a couple of minutes. They are also very affordable.
The most reliable blood pressure monitors on the market
Taking blood pressure is one of the most frequently performed procedures in primary and specialist care, providing healthcare staff with essential data about a patient’s condition and fulfilling a key role in preventive medicine.
At Salvador Navarro we work with the best specialist brands in the sector. Depending on the type of monitor, some brands stand out more than others.
HEINE blood pressure monitors
The most reliable aneroid (needle-type) monitors tend to be made by Heine. They are built to be shock-resistant using latex-free materials. They feature a gauge with overpressure protection and a micro-filter that protects the valve and measurement system. HEINE aneroid monitors have a high-quality indicator needle that is perfectly calibrated, along with a precision rotary valve for fine dosing and rubber stops in both rotation directions to prevent the valve from jamming.
HEINE’s large-scale dial — 56 mm in diameter — makes readings easy to take at a glance. The casing is made of durable plastic with a non-slip, shock-absorbing cover. The monitor also includes a single-tube high-quality cuff with a washable Velcro fastening and a plastic cradle suitable for both right- and left-handed users.
RIESTER blood pressure monitors
Riester is a brand specialising in high-quality products. The company assembles its Riester sphygmomanometers in Germany.
Their precision and long product lifespan are proven by test results, making them one of the most reliable blood pressure monitors on the market. Riester aneroid sphygmomanometers stand out not only for their accuracy — comparable to mercury instruments — but also for their virtually unlimited durability. The maximum error tolerance is ±2 mmHg, which exceeds international standards.
They also feature a membrane load capacity of up to 600 mmHg. Riester offers a wide range of products with screw-type or plug-type connectors and a broad variety of cuffs. Riester sphygmomanometers are available latex-free, with high-precision bleed valves and micro-filters to protect the measurement system.
OMRON digital blood pressure monitors
Among digital blood pressure monitors, the most reliable brand is Omron — well known for combining low cost with outstanding quality. Omron monitors deliver excellent accuracy in measuring blood pressure and incorporate the latest technological innovations. For example, the latest M7 Intelli IT model includes the first Omron app for smartphones.
Its key features include: a motion sensor, irregular heartbeat detection, a cuff-fitting guide that indicates whether the cuff is correctly positioned, result memory, and an average of consecutive readings, among others.
At Salvador Navarro we always stock the best brands and offer a comprehensive range of products focused on the different areas of electromedical equipment.
